RIP Beloved Shirt

Ok, so this is kind of a random post.

When I lived in San Francisco, I trained in Tang Soo Do at a studio called Paresh Martial Arts for five years. Eventually I earned by first degree black belt and also taught at the studio. The moments spent with the people from this dojang are some of most beloved memories of my time in San Francisco. My uniform still carefully hangs in a closet at my mother-in-law’s house, ready for when I need it again.

There is also a single t-shirt that I still have from that studio which has traveled with us everywhere. It became well loved (well-worn), was eventually relegated to “pajama” status, and now sadly has finally reached the end of it’s life with us.

This shirt has literally been around the world, at the most extreme limits having gone from St. Petersburg, Russia westward to Hawaii and then westward again all the way to Galway, Ireland. We don’t have photos with the shirt in every country, but below are a few highlights.

This shirt has been enjoyed and worn in all these amazing places (and would have made it to the Bahamas if it hadn’t been for a hurricane):
USA (California, Oregon, Washington, Florida, Hawaii)
US Virgin Islands
Austria
British Virgin Islands
Croatia
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
France
Germany
Iceland
Ireland
Italy
Japan
Norway
Russia
Slovenia
Sweden
Switzerland
UK – England
UK – Northern Ireland
UK – Scotland
And finally, Ukraine

(Shetland Islands – much less worn, but my crazy hair makes up for it)

(Northern Ireland)

(St. Petersburg, Russia)

Farewell Paresh shirt, we will miss you.
