Flo Jo’s: A Taste of American Food in Innsbruck

(Tirol, Austria)

Sometimes, as any long term traveller can attest to, Grant and I really get the craving for American food. Not so badly that we break down and head to the nearest McDonald’s (which is everywhere we’ve been to, by the way) but enough to be willing to try out a local burger joint or steakhouse.

One evening, when we were at German class, the subject got on to food and our teacher began describing a baked potato with all its fixings served by a restaurant called Flo Jo’s located down town. After that class, Grant and I just got a craving for baked potatoes and meat. We wrote down the name of the restaurant but forgot about it for the time being. A couple of weeks later, we were walking in Old Town and came across that very same restaurant.

We looked at the menu and Grant thought it would be a good place for Valentine’s Day.  He made a reservation but we soon realized that wasn’t necessary as the restaurant is huge and has a lot of seating area. They did have a Valentine’s dinner menu but we passed that up for steak and sour cream smothered baked potatoes. Or in Grant’s case, a full rack of ribs and a potato.

This restaurant is recommended for anyone who has a hankering for some good ole’ American food. They have everything from steaks, burgers, grilled chicken to Tex Mex such as burritos and fajitas. We haven’t tried the Tex Mex yet but look forward to going back when the craving strikes again.

(Steak with garlic butter sauce, baked potato, and grilled vegetables – the steak was very tender and delicious)
