Our German Experience at Acro

(Zadar, Croatia)

One thing that Grant and I have been determined to do at each location that we stay in is to seek out and enroll in a German language school. Doing this not only creates a constant routine to our schedule but allows us to pick up a new skill that is useful in our travels in Europe. German is the second most common spoken language on the continent, aside from English.

We were fortunate enough to find a language school that teaches German, within a five-minute walk from our apartment. Acro, located on Ulica Špire Brusine in Old Town was founded in 1995. They were super nice and helpful, arranging a German class within a week of our inquiry. Our class was taught in an immersion setting. The price was very reasonable, the least expensive out of all the places we’ve been so far, for two sessions 90 minutes each per week. The curriculum followed the textbook completely, which concerned me at first. The method turned out to be very effective and we were able to absorb and retain a lot of vocabulary and grammar rules.

Some classrooms even have matching CD-player and teacher’s desk!

We highly recommend this language school if you are interested, and they teach many different languages.
