Escape from Dublin!

While in Dublin we frequently would walk between our apartment in Rathmines and City Center, following a road that changes name every few blocks: Richmond Street, Camden Street, Wexford Street, Redmond’s Hill, Aungier Street, and George’s Street. And all that in just one mile.

Along that route we frequently passed a place called “Escape Dublin”. This is one of those establishments where you get locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to try and escape. Being adventurous, we booked a slot to test our puzzle-solving skills.

Originally we were going to go as a group with another couple we know from Dublin, but they got sick at the last minute. Sasha and I decided to keep the reservation and to see how well we could do on our own.

We did the “Da Vinci Room”. I can’t tell you anything about the puzzles themselves, but there certainly were a few that had us stumped for a time. The whole experience was great and I was surprised by how many puzzles there were in this small space.

Sasha and I were able to escape within the time limit, nearly setting a record at 36 minutes, 20 seconds. We were also something like the 75th team (out of thousands) to solve all puzzles with no hints from the operator. Seems that our skills are better than we expected!

Escape Dublin is a great venue and well worth your time if you feel like getting locked inside a room for an hour or so. We definitely recommend it.
